HOW ARE STUDENTS’ SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS ATTENDING?
Our psycho-pedagogical cabinet develops different interesting topics for families through workshops or individual appointments in their offices every school year with the help of their team members; speech therapist, psychologist, educational psychologist and SEN teacher. Our school psycho-pedagogical Cabinet, in collaboration with teachers and parents working together in developing and optimizing individual capabilities as well as in detecting possible learning difficulties. The collaboration with the school and families through tutoring is the main basis to achieve the objectives of our Educational Project. Everybody’s active cooperation is needed to recognize, promote and guide our students’ efforts and achievements.
WHY SHOULD WE STUDY INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA AT COLEGIO ARENAS SUR?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a symbol that also distinguishes our school. It is another step in our commitment to provide our students with a comprehensive educational system adapted to fit in with these modern times where the student is the leader of the learning process, developing and acquiring tools for their own reflection to be able to face personal and professional challenges. It also enhances our commitment to international education, understanding multiculturalism as a socializing element.
WHAT HAS THE ASSESSMENT SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY?
Colegio Arenas Sur conducts annually an individual and anonymous survey to the different members of our educational community where we get a very high valuation in each assessed area.
IS THERE ANY REGISTRATION OR ENTRY FEE?
Not in Nursery School, but in the rest of the key educational stages. It is paid once at the beginning of primary education onwords and you can benefit from some discounts that will be applied depending on the years already studied at school in previous stages and the number of siblings enrolled at our school. This registration fee is also used to develop educational innovation research programs and student support programs through our psycho-pedagogical cabinet or our R&D Department.
WHAT ARE THE TUITION FEES?
Fees will vary from 370 to 500 Euros depending on the key stage studied for a school day from 9.00 to 16.00. It also includes a free after school support tuition in some subjects from 16.00 to 18.00. In our Nursery School, Arenas Babies (Students who are aged 6 months old or above) fees will vary depending on your decision of attending a full or part time school day. Moreover, you can benefit from some discounts depending on the number of siblings attending our school.
HOW AND WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR A PLACE FOR MY CHILD ?
You can apply any time throughout the school year. Applications are only limited by the number of places that are remaining and the compulsory interviews required so that we are able to adapt to the students’ needs in the Nursery and Primary stages by the skills in other languages and stages. You need to ask for an appointment with our educational psychologist.
DOES YOUR SCHOOL OFFER A LOAN SCHEME?
Our school offers a discount for large families. Progressive discounts are also applied in the General Registration Fees (applicable only once from Elementary) depending on the number of children and if your child has been educated by us since nursey schooling.
Which is the school timetable?
The school timetable starts from 9:00h to 16:00h apart from lower primary and nursery which begins at 8:45h until 15:45h. There is an additional free service where the school starts from 7:30na.m. to complement parents working timetables. From 16:00 p.m. onwards, there are free various activities except for soccer team, basketball, swimming and Robotics (students from other schools are welcomed to enrol in these activities). We recommend that you arrive to school for 8:45h to help with the organization of traffic control and to create tranquillity among parents and students.
Do you offer transport service?
Yes, we do offer the transport service which runs from the south of the island up until Telde (also running through Summer Camp). We are conveniently located near the exit of GC-1 in San Agustin for easy access to our school. Those who travel by car will enjoy the experience of building relationships with our families and students. Depending on your location the cost will vary (Mogán, Puerto Rico/Arguinegüín, Playa del Inglés/Maspalomas, Vecindario/Arinaga, and Telde)
Do you OFFER lunch service?
We offer our own catering service for our students. The different menus varied according to age (Infants, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate) are done by professional nutritionists and the whole process of cooking and service is guaranteed by the ISO 9001, and of course there is a service offered for students with special dietary requirements. There is a questionnaire available for students and families at the end of the school year, your feedback is welcomed. Occasionally throughout the year, we offer cuisine from around the world and nutritional workshops for the families with the presence of the quality system responsible staff and, offering advice and help on anything regarding this area.
What are the advantages of learning languages from a young age?
Young learners are naturally capable of learning languages with ease and as the students develop over the years, they are comfortably able to switch from one language to the other. By the time they leave the school, the opportunities available for them will be vast enough. The way English is taught at Colegios Arenas portraits the essence of our educational offer. Our teaching methods support the language acquisition through a natural and direct approach that enables the student to learn the language in a communicative, functional and meaningful way through content area subjects. The goal of our languages program is to enable the students to think clearly, to read perceptively, and to write and speak accurately and effectively.
is religion taught?
No. Within our educational programme we highlight the education of life principles and furthermore, we deal with the history of many religions but we do not opt for teaching any concrete religion.
